Referee

The over-riding function of the referee is to see that the swimming meet is properly conducted in regard to applying the rules, and, in all ways assuring the swimmers of fair competitive conditions.  He or she will be the sole arbiter in the event of a disqualification. If there is indecision in placings by the Judge, the Referee’s placing will be taken into consideration so a decision can be made.

Touch Judges

The Touch Judges in conjunction with the Referee are responsible for placings at carnivals and club championships.

Starter

The starter shall have full control of the swimmers from the time the Referee turns the swimmers over to him/her until the race has commenced.  The Start shall be in accordance with QSA Swimming rules.  Absolute silence and stillness is required after the Referee sounds his/her whistle until after the Starter’s signal is given.

Scribe

The scribe’s job is to record the swimmers time from the boards.  If you are a timekeeper please do not erase/alter the swim times until the scribe has recorded them.

Parents please note

If a swimmer is directed to swim in a different lane, or swim in a race that that is different race altogether, please make sure the scribe is informed of the change.  Please do not ask the scribe what race or lane you child is in, all this information is recorded on the sticker.
