Pricing structure
Just a little explanation on how the pricing structure
works for children moving from learn to swim to mini squad or junior
squad.
If you paid $100 for 1 lesson once a week, this still
applies to mini squad and squad. You child is able to swim
once a week (or a total of 10 times a term). If they miss a week,
they can swim twice another week.
If they swim a few more sessions than the ten paid for, I will invoice
you at the end of the term for the balance at $10 a swim.
If the new timetable makes it easier for your child come to more
sessions you can upgrade to the next price level of $180 ($80
difference), they can then swim as many times as they like in the term.

Adult swimming:
Monday and Wednesday evenings (6.40-7.40pm). Parents, this is your
time to enjoy the benefits of swimming with a professional swim
coach. Swimming is a great way to get fit and get your whole body
into shape. Coach McLeod will have
challenging programs to help you stay in shape and keep fit and will
also teach those swimmers who are still learning the basics.
No need to book, just come along. If you have a child
swimming with us it's only $8 (Save $2 a session)

Learn to
swim and squad
During the first week of lessons it became apparent to
Anthony that quite a few children were in the wrong classes and changes
would have to be made sooner than anticipated.
There are four learn to swim levels in our program.
Learn to swim will start at level 4 and progress through to advanced
learn to swim level 1 (and then mini squad, junior squad and senior
squad). All swimmers are constantly monitored and once they are
able to perform the skills required to move to the next level they will
be reassessed. Swimmers will progress through the levels as their
skills and ability improves. As the swimmer attain each level they
will receive a certificate of achievement. Please be aware the
learning to swim is a completely individual experience and all swimmer
will have varying rates of improvement.
As all the times and lessons levels have changed I have
done my best to put your child into a similar time, but in some cases
this was just not possible. Please be patient while we fine tune
the timetable together.
Below are the run sheets showing the available places
(this will be updated as soon as time permits). I will be emailing
everyone shortly, and you will then have the opportunity to change your
child's lesson if you wish.

NEW HEAD COACH - ANTHONY MCLEOD

The Wilston Swim Club is excited to announce that we have
appointed a new Head Coach. His name is Anthony McLeod. He will bring to our
Club a wealth of experience in swimming. He believes that open and honest
communication between coaches, athletes and parents is an essential part of a
successful swim team. As Head Coach, Anthony aims to create a positive and
rewarding environment where each individual swimmer has the opportunity to
progress and to achieve their own personal goals. He looks forward to meeting
you and will always be happy to discuss any part of the swimming program. For
the learn-to-swim youngsters to the more competent swimmers, it’s going to be a

October. The entries will be posted to BSA on Thursday so no late entries
will be accepted.

14th August, 2009
Hi Swimmers,
The Brisbane Sprint
Sprint Meet is being held on Saturday 12th Sept (8-12 yrs) and
Sunday 13th Sept (13 yrs & Over) at the Sleeman Centre at
Chandler. There are no qualifying times for this meet so it is a great
opportunity for you to experience a full programme of racing out at
Chandler. It will also give you a chance to post times that you can use as
qualifying entries for future meets. Even if you haven’t been in the pool
for a while this is a good event to test how you are going. As all the
events for 8-12yrs olds are being held on Saturday it is also a chance for
us to get a big Wilston Crocodiles team together. We are currently
sitting at the bottom of Div 4 so lets start climbing the ladder.
Attached is the
programme of events. Entries close on August 21st so I need your
entries no later than WEDNESDAY 19TH AUGUST.
Please email all
entries or queries to Kate Gibson
katandrory@optusnet.com.au or ring on 38561719 or 0403833184.
Thank you to Remy Reiss,
Ivy Lawrence, Laura Purcell and Nina Donaldson who all managed to stay well
enough to make it out to Chandler last weekend for the Brisbane Short Course
Championships. They all posted some great times against the best in
Brisbane.
20th May, 2009

Swimming Club aged 9yrs & Over. The meet will be held in a 25m pool
with 50m events for 9yr olds and 100m, 200m & 400m events for 10yrs
and over. The 200m & 400m events require official qualifying times
from previous BSA/SQ sanctioned meets.
If you would like any further
information or would like to enter the event, please contact Kate
Gibson on 38561719, 0403 833184 or email
kateandrory@optusnet.com.au. Entries close on 6th

Pool closure details
Hopefully you are warm and dry and haven't been washed away by all
the rain!
Most of you probably know by now, the school will be
closing the pool on Friday for draining, sandblasting and
repainting. It is expected to take 4 weeks leaving one week of
term before the school holidays. We have also had to move the
Wednesday 3.30 running sessions to Friday at 3.15pm
Whilst this is great news for the pool it means we
have had to make alternative arrangements.
Learn to Swim - Learn to Swim will
close until Term 3. Last week I tried to see as many as you as
I could (and apologies if you receive this email more than once) and
have offered you three options. Would you like to :
a) transfer the balance to term three (an invoice
will follow for the remaining five weeks) and keep the same timeslot
in term 3,
b) transfer the balance to term four (an invoice will
follow for the remaining five weeks). You will be contacted in term
3 (before sign on day) for a new booking time, or
c) receive a refund
Squad - Squad will reopen as soon as
the work has finished. But in the meantime Dan has managed to
secure some pool time at the Valley Pool on Tuesday and Thursday
mornings 5.30 to 7am. All term passes and 10 swim passes will be
suspended and payment for these sessions at the Valley Pool can be
paid at the time of the session (please see Dan for prices). If you
have purchased a term pass, please let me know if
you would like to
a) transfer 'x' amount of weeks (or the full 5 weeks ) to term
three (an invoice will follow for the remaining weeks)
b) transfer 'x' amount of weeks (or the full 5 weeks) to term four
(an invoice will follow for the remaining weeks)
c) receive a refund
If you have purchased a 10 swim ticket, you can
start using that when the pool reopens. Of course you can still
use your ticket at the Friday running session.
I will be at the pool today and tomorrow from 3 to 4.30 to answer
any questions you may have. Please
email me and let me know what you would like to happen with
your fees.
Thank you so much for your patience
while the work is carried out and we'll see you swimming again with us
in our beautiful pool in term 3.

Learn to Swim bookings are now being taken
with payment for term 2. There will be no Friday, Saturday or Wednesday
lessons (after 4.40) at this stage, so book in now so you don't miss
out. We will offer those lessons
only if all other lessons are full. Lessons do not automatically
carry over from one term to the next, you have to rebook.
Winter Squad sessions times will be posted
shortly. Don't forget fees are due for term 2 now.
Nominations are now closed
for Club Championships.
Trophy Night is being held on
the 4th of April in the undercover area (6 - 9pm). Don't forget
to mark it on your calendar.
Swimming Rules will be
tightened from this week in preparation for Club Championships and
children will be disqualified if necessary.
A good way of helping your children is to refresh their memory by
reading the rules in the handbook. Make sure your children are
aware they must stay in the pool until all the swimmers finish and
they are told to leave the pool.
Club Championships will be
held over the next two weeks. It is very important to be quite
on the whistle as the children on the blocks have trouble hearing the
whistle will all the noise. The children will be marshaled, so
please assist by listening for your child's race and keeping those not
called away from the office window.
March 11th, 2009
Hi,
Thank you to everyone that responded to the email Justin Wilson
(President of WSSASC) about a possible date change for Club
Championships. It was brought about because we had a date clash
with the state swimming championships in Cairns, where we hoped we
would have several children qualify. After a lot of discussion at
the committee meeting it was decided
not
to change the dates for Club Championships.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Wyatt
Westmoreland, Georgia Bohl, David Murphy, Nina Donaldson and
Nick Bryant for qualifying for the State Swimming
Championships. These swimmers will be given an opportunity to
swim the events that they will miss at the first club championship
night on the second night.
Also, in the handbook it says we will be having our fun relay
night on the 20th March, as this has already been held, the 20th
will be a normal club night. The events for that night will be
Butterfly, Freestyle, Breaststroke, 100m Freestyle and 100m
Butterfly. You can nominate for that night on the web page.
http://wilstonswim.org.au/club/nominate.htm
Nominations for Club Championships can also be made now. On the
27th March, the events will be Butterfly, Backstroke and 100IM.
On the 3rd April, the events will be Freestyle, Breaststroke, and
100 Free.
NOMINATIONS FOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS CLOSE MARCH 20TH
– no exceptions. Please note to qualify for 100 Free you must have
qualified for 50 Free and to qualify for 100IM you must have
qualified for 50m in any three strokes.
If you have any queries please contact me on
3356 0874 or
info@wilstonswim.org.au.
Don't forget about the Committee Meeting on
Monday - 7pm at the pool - all welcome.

Last year we were successful in becoming
'National Champions' of the '2007/2008 Summer Club Challenge'. (The
trophy sits on the office windowsill.)

To win this award children (or their parents)
enter their club times each week into their online database. This
database is run by parents of 3 young swimmers of another swim club
and you earn points (just as you do with swim club), but these
points enable us to compete against other clubs. Each child goes
into the running for a $50 Rebel Sports Card every month.
So, have a look, enter your club times, and
hopefully we will win it again this year. If you have any questions
please feel free to contact Judy on info@wilstonswim.org.au.
Thanks and come on Crocs!!!!

Come along to the launch of the renovations
at the swimming pool and meet Brisbane's own Australian
Olympic Hero -
Stephanie Rice
The Wilston Crocs swim club has been
working hard over the winter renovating the pool area. To
celebrate the new facilities the club will be holding a
Grand Opening on Friday 17th October from
6.00 - 10.00pm. Brisbane's own Olympic Hero -
Stephanie Rice has kindly agreed to come along
to officially open the renovations and meet with people.
There will be food and drinks available and prizes on the
night. For swimmers we will be reducing the number of
strokes to Freestyle, Butterfly and the 100m Medley to get
the opening celebrations swinging fully into action by
7.30pm. It's a great opportunity to see the club in
action, socialise with others and of course meet
Stephanie. All are welcome. If you have any questions
please feel free to contact the club.

If you haven't yet signed up for Friday night
club, it's not too late. You will need to nominate
before 6pm Thursday (see link on left). It would also
be appreciated if all the paperwork is done and payment is
made before Friday.

Come and join the friendly Wilston Crocodiles Swimming Club.
We are a club promoting fun and excellence in swimming and
community spirit.
Wilston Crocs is a club that you can come every week,
every second week or as often as you can. The children have
a great time swimming and socialising with new friends. If
you wish to be a competitive swimmer, that is catered for
also within the club, by our coaching staff and by attending
carnivals.
Wilston Crocs is open to all families from all local
areas and schools. We have many families from schools
other than Wilston and many from St Columbus. New members
are warmly welcomed into the club each year. Both social and
competitive swimmers are valued. We support all of our
swimmers and encourage them to achieve to their greatest
potential.
Our club meet is on Friday nights, during
school Terms 4 and 1 at 6pm SHARP. We conduct swimming
races in all strokes (over different nights). The heats are
arranged according to the swimmers best time, regardless of
age/gender, fostering an individual child's performance
rather then winning or losing.
Over the winter there have been some
wonderful renovations to our office, canteen and BBQ areas,
providing an even better experience for all Crocs and their
families.
Sign on for the club must occur before the
first swim club night of Friday 10th October.
Please email
info@wilstonswim.org.au for further details or call 3356
0874 and your calls will be returned from Monday 29th.

A huge well done to Nick Bryant for achieving 2 milestones
on the weekend. Nick won a bronze medal in the 100m
Backstroke at the Qld short course titles and also placed
top ten in 2 other events. Also Nick has qualified for the
first Australian Medley development squad which is
selected based on times through out the year. Excellent
work Nick your winter training is paying off!!!
Finally, Wilston Crocs are now the National Champions
on mypb.com. We achieved this by entering our club times
on their web page. So, as the season starts we want
to make sure we can win again. See Judy for further
details.
